View Full Version : Can anyone tell me what the CD changer cable looks like and where to find in an '02 S6 Avant?

I am looking in the left rear inner fender area under the tool kit. I see a roughly 1/2" round, 7 pin, male cable jack towards the back yet the players I see on E-bay that claim to be 100% plug compatible seem to have a rectangular plug. Is there something that I haven't found, or is the round plug it? I don't have NAV so I'm not sure what's what back there. I'm pretty sure that the 2002 was the last year that was supposed to have the cable available in the A6/S6 line.

Also does one need to do anything after installing a changer to get the system to recognize it, (ie. VAG-Com) or is it truely plug and play if its a compatible unit. I'd like to have both front and rear changers if its possible.

the rectangular connector is a changer from a VW.

Sorry to be so persistant but I just want to make sure that I do have the cable before I order a changer. I'm not sure if this one, which came mounted in place, is for CD,phone or Nav. Other notes have implied that the CD cable jack would be wrapped in foam hanging loose and I can not find anything like that. I do appreciate your insight. TIA

on it.
True, the system only uses 10 of the 13 pins, but this pic you are showing deviates then for the seemingly std. CD changer cable.
if you have all the 13-pin holes, then I'd say OK.
