I already have a 12 in. pioneer premier sub (800w max) in a sealed 1.25 cu. ft. JL box. I am looking for an amp that costs around $200 and puts out decent power and will be able to push the 12 cleanly. Something i also would like is a remote to control the amp from the drivers seat. I am somewhat unfamiliar still with car audio, although i have learned a great deal through research so feel free to give some tips for the install because i will be doing it myself. The ones that i am considering so far are:
-Kenwood KAC-7251
-Alpine MRP-M350
-Rockford Fosgate 301s
Are these good proven components or should i look elsewhere? My local shops carry all of these (although i am not sure about the Kenwood) so i should be able to get them a decent price. Thank you in advance for your knowledge and recommendations!

the most powerful amp for the buck is probably the MTX line while maintaining a decent quality.

If you have dual VCs on the sub then you can wire it to 2 OHM to get 500RMS 800 peak on this guy: It also has what's called an EBC2 port for a bass control link runs about 25 bucks.

Get it here for 289 ebay for 240 or so.:

-Kenwood KAC-7251

Had 2 kenwoods in my time - burned em both out

-Alpine MRP-M350

Alpine is good, had their MRV line beore and they worked well

-Rockford Fosgate 301s

The old punches rocked - their new amps suck. spend a little more and get the MTX. One of the best sub amps I've ever bought for the price. Wouldn't get it for highs though.

http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/thunder801D.cfm</a

I'm looking into them now. They look to be a legit quality amp that is able to cut prices due to dealing direct from the manufacturer. They are recommended by Elemental Designs who make an awesome sub so I'd tend to think they are very good quality amps.

Avionixx AXA400.2 Class A/B (400W @ 4ohm) $185
Avionixx AXT800.2 Class T digital (800W @ 4ohm) $285

http://www.avionixxusa.com/</a

I have a Rockford Fosgate 401s amp powering my two 12" Infinity subs and it sounds great. And it comes with a remote control. My old roommate went with one of the new MTXs last year and it sounded just as good. But his didn't come with a remote control.

I was told by a Circuit City install guy that one of the original makers of Rockford products left the company and now works for MTX, hence why MTX products have been improving.

Just what I heard, not sure of the actually truth.

I'm not sure if Kenwood and Alpine amps are any good, but I'd only buy their HUs.

MTX rocks but you have to wonder why he left Fosgate to go to MTX and why Rockford's quality has gone down. ;) I just installed a 10 year old punch 200 in a buddys car and the thing frickin pounds. I was the original owner of that amp too.

get the T class if ya get one. A/B no good for sub - Go D or T.

My 401s kicks ass for how much money I had to spend at the time and I'm still using it going on three years.

I agree with you on that Fosgate's quality seemed to have gone down over the last couple of years while their has/was a big push for MTX.

I'm glad to here your 10 year old amp is still rocking, this makes me smile!! But for some reason I'm still hesitate with the MTX. I think the way to go is to buy a Memphis amp, if I had that kind of cash. But that's just my opinion.

All im sayin for subs only, not for highs, that MTX is a very cost effective solution.
