I have mine roughly cut out to the shape of the side of my trunk, but there's still gonna be some small gaps. So I'm just lookin for some ideas on how to fill those gaps??

How did the one in the picture fill the gaps?

*Hopefully you undertsand what I'm trying to say*

U can do anything with fiberglass.. cut out any shape you want in cardboard and lay fiberglass over it. If you have the patience you can sand and paint it or if not carpet it. I say fiberglass as opposed to wood or MDF because its much lighter.

p.s.
Where did u get that picture, are there more of that install?
