The installer putting in my system recommends custom fabricated mounts made of plywood rather than the MQ Quart adapters made of plastic because the plywood won't resonate as much as the plastic MB Quart adapters. He says the dense plywood adapters would actually dampen any vibrations to the door/panel. Whereas the plastic adapters will just transmit it more.

Is he feeding me a line of **** or is there some truth to this?

he's gonna charge you to make custom adapters. Tell him to go suck it.

He's charging me $200 for the front speakers to be installed (includes mounts and metal cutting to fit the speakers) and $50. for the rear doors.

I am having MB Q components installed in the front door for $90 which includes any brackets and/or hardware...

Rear coax speakers are costing me only $50 for the rear doors...

This is with one of the top installers in Houston... who really knows VWs and A4s

The specs for the adapters can be found online and you could make them in probably 20 minutes with the right tools.

Yeah, I guess it is a bit high. I just don't have the time to shop around and absolutely no time to do it myself.....so you pay to play.

i have the mb quart adapters and while plywood (mdf?) might not resonate as much, the plastic allows it to be very thin and requires no cutting of the door frame.

Long way... but definitely worth it

Michael Ramirez did the install, which took a full day (10am - 9pm) for an amp and ft + rr speakers.
Michael took his time tearing down my brand new A4 (it almost brought tears to my eyes to watch a brand new A4 in such bad shape) but he really knew about our cars and did an incredible install !!!

My install consisted of MBQuart Comps in the front with Alpine Coax in the rear and driven by a great JL 300/4...

Good luck,
