For awhile now I've heard the rumors about Audi reintroducing the European Delivery program for us Americans. Now that I'm a little closer to ordering a new car, I thought I would check with some of the people at AoA to find out if the rumors were true. Here is what I got back:

"Such rumors are not true. There is no program on the foreseeable future nor would Germany be prepared to do one-offs."

The one-off that he mentions was me asking if he could pull some strings and let me pick my car up there anyway - no go.

I wouldn't take this as a definit "NO" but I wouldn't hold your breath if you were hoping it would happen in the next 6 months or so.

AOA?

Otherwise you'll end up not being taken seriouly by the American public that has money. Worse case is tht if your marketing does not get better you will end up like Fiat and all the French mfrs - selling to third world countries.

Then you can take the opportunity to vacation/drive around Europe in your new car before shipping it back to the US for final delivery. Supposedly the whole deal is sometimes even less costly than just taking delivery in the US.
