View Full Version : Do all tint jobs wind up having some small bubbles in tint? GT 09-30-1999, 05:55 AM I'm curious cuz I just had windows tinted a week ago and there still are some small bubbles in the tint... talked to the tinter and he mentioned that that would be inevitable... is this true? Steve S. 09-30-1999, 05:59 AM The local guy here...that charges $400...would not have bubbles. I have tinted two cars...I did have bubbles in the defroster area in the back window (VW GTI) Steve S. 97 2.8QM hmmm 09-30-1999, 06:20 AM Yeah, I know over time people will only pay me what my service is worth, blah blah blah Hans 09-30-1999, 06:32 AM I have a semi-metallic tint on my car (3M - 35%) and had bubbles which most went away in 3 days and then brought it back to the installer who removed the rest. He said it should not bubble or peel. Lifetime guarantee and for only $169 (normally $179, but I had a clear bra installed at the same time so I got a discount on both). Steve S. 09-30-1999, 06:41 AM If people take out windows rather than just installing the tint with the windows in, it obviously would take longer and warrant an increase in cost. The process that the guy that charges $400 goes thru may be significantly different. I would check out the differences thoroughly before proceeding with the most costly option. I ended up not tinting my A4...but I checked into three places before I did. Their process is definitely different. The $400 guy has a special "low dust/lint" room that he does his in..to keep everything very clean. I am one of those older guys that has learned that you get what you pay for, after thoroughly researching the differences. I do not buy cheap suits, cheap cars, cheap electronics...you just lose in the long run. Steve S. 97 2.8QM GT 09-30-1999, 09:07 AM |
