situation. I just hooked up a sub & amp to the Bose system in my S4 and I would like to find out the best way to set everything up to get the best quality sound. First of all, here is what I installed: Rockford Fosgate Punch 360a2 and 1 Kicker Solo-Baric 12" (the old round kind). The setup is working and there is a lot of output, but it just doesn't seem right, like the sound is a little too muddled and could be much better. I know its all kind of dependant on what style of music I listen to (typically techno, hip hop and rock), but I'd like to get some ideas on how to improve the quality. There are just too many freakin adjustments to make (amp gains, bass boost, crossover freq, Bose hidden EQ, bass/mid/treble on the head unit) and I can't tell which ones have which effect. Some things I did notice: it sounds better when half of my back seat is folded down, also - even with the amp gains turned down all the way the speaker is REALLY loud sometimes and it drowns out the mid & highs. Also, which way should the speaker be firing, front, back, etc.

If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!
Thanks

First if it is muddy sounding you should take a look at your box. Ported, sealed, BP; sealed will give you the cleanest sound, bp the worst.

If you don't hear any distortion when you turn it up, then your amp settings are probably fine. Crossover settings depend on what your other speaks can do. If your sub is louder than the rest of your speakers you need to upgrade. It is almost impossible for stock speaks to keep up with a good sub. Bass boost should always be kept to nothing or very low.

To see which way to fire your sub, just try moving your box around and see what you like the best. That will depend on which way you like it.

Also having a trunk will dimish some SQ from your setup when you have the seats up, not too much you can do about that.
