There is a thin wire attached to the adapter that I got from Crutchfield, not being used -I assume it's to a power antenna booster lead. No idea how to hook this up, and crutchfield had no idea. Anyone know how to get AM/FM back?
TIA

A very reputible shop just installed the full Pioneer DVD/NAV w/ Sirius in my parents Allroad and couldnt figure out how to operate the Audi power boosted system.
I beg to differ about self-installs. Most, even good shops, know less then someone who does their research and does a careful install themselves even with little experience. The way Audi and VW set up their antenna system is very awkward, so says Crutchfield as well as myself.
This shop ended up taking out the entire system and putting back the stock headunit when they just couldn't get it right.

It's a straightforward concept if you've seen it before. Get the correct part, find out how to hook it up, and you're all set. Other than the extra wire, the part is just like any other antenna adapter.

my point is general incompetence in MOST of the service industry - if you want it done right - do it yourself...my only point
