East vs. West

What a difference from CT to CA. I thought CT had the highest gas prices but holy crap $1.79/gal for premium. No wonder there are so many posts about gas mileage.

I hardly saw any A4's in San Jose/San Francisco area. Way less than what I see in CT. Must be the Quattro and lousy weather we get in CT. BMW's were everywhere.
The BMW 540i was almost as prevalent as Chevy's out here. I mean not just 528's but almost every 5-series was a 540. Must be the folks cashing in the stock options.
East cost folks tend to drive way faster. I was in my rental Taurus in the fast lane doing only about 70MPH. In the east coast that is the slow lane with the fast lane doing 80. You California folks seem to be more laid back than us uptight East coast people.
The first A4 that I did see was a Santorin Blue X.Y, couldn't tell because it was de-badged, first time I ever saw a de-badged A4. Never saw that in CT even though I probably have seen hundreds of A4's.
Oh well just some rambling to kill some time.

$1.79 is cheap for premimium, the shell in downtown palo alto is $1.96. Personally I make a run to Costco for $1.54, also there are two spots in Campbell that have similar prices.

Debadged Santori Blue, was the license plate Potoroo?

Also, I literally see about 5-10 A4's a day, they are very very very very common, at least silver ones are. I'm shocked to see how many A6's I see a day now too.

Does CT use turnpikes or is is straight freeway? Just curious, those turnpikes confused me pretty bad the first time I drove those, but once you get moving it does let you hit some straightways pretty good.

Was concentrating on crossing the Bay Bridge into Oakland so did not notice licencse plate.

Chevron outside my Hotel in San Jose was $1.79. CT averages $1.59 but I can get it for $1.49 at a few places.

Southwest CT, near NY has the Merritt Parkway, built during the "great depression" with wonderful ornate bridge works. However the On/Off ramps are like 10ft long with no lane to merge so the right lane is real scary there.

Central CT has regular Interstate mostly 4-6 lane not like the 8-10 lane stuff in CA. CT seems to have an older population though so back roads (the fun twisty kind) are blocked with retired folks in Buicks (real popular out here).

If you're back in CT, send me an email, or check us out at the link below. 10-20% of the cars at our past meets have been debadged. BBQ/Drive on 10/16 up to and around MA.

I'm from the East Coast but lived on the West Coast for a few years. I think it depends on the area so it's hard to generalize. Compared to the nonsense one goes through on Long Island or the Garden State Parkway, or I-95 through Maryland people in SCA drive a LOT faster--when there's no traffic. Northern California is indeed a bit more "relaxed" though.
