I'm pretty sur I'll go woth Autothority as my chip. Should I spend a full 800.00 for one stock and one modified, or 400.00 for just one modified? Any opinions?

For some people around here, routine driving means redlining in every gear. ;-)
However, if you mean generally shifting below 3k then you will not notice much difference when accelarating from a stop. However, in-gear, highway passing power is much improved because the engine is already around 3k and that's where you feel the added boost.

I have a socketed Wett chip (extra ECU wasn't an offered option when I bought), and I like the added peace of mind of sending the car to the dealer in stock form. However, if I were buying today, I would get the extra ECU because that makes it easier to swap as well as eliminates the risk of bending a "prong" on the socket, when I swap the actual chip.

I assume that by your question of routine driving you're asking if the dealer would detect the chip on a test drive. I think so, the part-throttle response of the AutoThority chip is better than stock, and if they get into the throttle at all they'll certainly know.

Regarding a spare ECU - Depends how much it means to you to be able to put the stock ECU in for dealer service. You can think of a spare ECU as insurance against any warranty dispute, in which case its definetly worth it.
