Current Road and Track (dec 98) has an ad (p. 216) for A.R.T. Xenon Lights for German cars. Company is All Cars Inc., PO Box 330, Old Westbury, New York 11568. Tel (516) 624-0094, Fax (516) 624-0655. Tried calling; only got an answering machine.
Anyone heard of the product or the company.

They are actually an importer.. They can get all the xenon headlight units from Germany or wherever. In any case I spoke to them, and they don't have the xenon unit for the A4 yet, they are supposed to get the OEM unit from the S4.. Expecting them very soon...
Dmak 1.8TQMS

Nice to hear that there will be another option for upgrading the stock lights soon. Perhaps Clair will also stock the S4 xenon unit soon as well, maybe for less. Can anyone guess if the S4 xenon lights will "plug right in", or need extra wiring harnesses/modifications like some of the others? Further rhetorical questions on how it might compare to the LLtek light upgrade and others...
Having followed the post and archives on light upgrades for a while now, I'm still not sure what route to go to get much stronger lights without spending a ton. E-code, super-duper white, H1, H7, H69, H666...
Rich
'98 2.8Qsport

I spoke to someone at Clair about the units and its very unlikely that they will sell the units. The reason is that the S4 is not in the U.S yet and the parts they sell are only U.S spec parts.. So the only way LLtek and Art.Xenon are going to get them is get them from Hella in germany..
Another option know is to get them through the dealers in germany, but that is going to cost you more than Hella is going to charge for them..
As for the conection I would guess its going to be simple two wire conncetion and probably a fuse.. The main question is how to control the motors to aim the beam, which is not going to include the automatic leveling system..
As for other methods of lighting.. I went to a shop today and found H-7 super white bulbs, made by a japanese company.. Looks very close to PIAA's.. They were asking for $70.00 for a pair, which IMHO is too much for halogens.. So I guess I have to wait for the Xenon units...
Dmak 1.8TQMS

Rich the Xenons are Not simple plug ins and although it can be done, it just seems like it could end up being a nightmare. Upgrading the existing bulbs may damage the lights and the wiring/switch. I have used Euro H4s on two VWs and two MBs with awesome results. They are easy to install(heavy guage wire, power from battery,4 relays w/fuses) and when used with 100/130 or 100/150 bulbs they are incredible. Don't forget Xenons don't work on high beams but H4s do! Hope this helps.
