that I could listen to? Preferably, I'd like to hear the following components in action:

MB Quart premium
Focal polykevlar
Diamond Hex
Dynaudio
Boston Acoustics Pro

And as a bonus, if anyone has free-air subs in action, I'd really like to hear how those are working. That's the ideal setup, but I'm wondering about how well the trunk can be sealed off from the cabin. Email me if you're local and have something interesting. Thanks.

I'll have to trust your judgement! :p

Have you ever had any other subs/systems in this or a different car? What kind of music are you into? How much power and what kind of amp is pushing it? How would you describe the sound?

It's about the easiest solution available, and one that lends itself perfectly to a DIY job, so I'm interested in it. Thanks for your help.

the sound is immaculate. i've never heard in person a stereo with a balance as superb as mine. i listen to a good bit of electronic music (Orbital, The Orb, NIN) and also a lot of metal (Deftones, RATM) in the car, along with the mandatory gangsta rap (snoop, dre, outcast, etc). the stealthbox is a great performer across all ranges of music. if you're the kinda guy that likes to feel his bass more than hear it then a JL W7 or Kicker sub is more of what you need. its provides more than enough bass as is, even running on my little xtant 121m.

i assume you are aware that the stealthbox will require some modifications to the deck to fit in an S4. i'm not quite sure what cutting is required but i've read here on AW of people successfully doing it...

quote

"I know the Stealthbox will fit in a 2000 (and most likely 2001 since I do not believe there were any changes in the trunk area. There is some trimming of the trunk lining material on the upper left side wall the of the trunk, and the box will slide right in place and bolts to factory holes in the rear deck. "

That has a great write up on the modification necessary for such an install, in case anyone else is interested.
