Does anybody know when the Y2k 1.8T's will hit the
showroom? My wife has a 96 2.8 w/ 27k w/ sunroof
and cold weather pkg (no Quattro) that I would liketo trade. It guzzles gas, is underpowered, and it has cloth interior (yuck). Had planned to keep the 96 about 5 more years and putting about 100k more on it during that time (Change in driving habits coming up.) Thinking about a 5 year lease on a 1.8 with quattro (for Pennsylvania winters) and tip(I also would purchase extra miles up front). Figured an 8 year old 96 2.8 would be worth about $3,500-4,000 wholesale in late 2004 with 130k on it. I would like to trade the 96 for the lease if I can avoid losing by backside. I'm not sure what the residual values would be for five years, but I
figure they would be about 45-50%, less the payment for the extra mileage. Edmunds lists my 96 wholesale at $16,615 and Kelly Blue Book at
$16,280. If anybody has any thoughts on the above, please advise. Thanks.

Somebody (Warren perhaps?) just picked up his 2000 1.8T...he posted some pics a few days ago which include the new 10-spoke 16" sport wheels.
