I read Don P's article about the install on a 2000 S4. On a 2001, is that white wire still good for a turn-on signal??

I have a Soundstream USA 305 5-channel amp that's only going to be used to power a 8" Bazooka. (Stuff from my old stereo). I also have the line-level converter. I think I'm going to use 4 or 8 guage for power.

Does this sound alright?? Any tips/tricks? Right now the amp and sub are attached to a piece of wood covered w/ trunk material. Does anyone recommend mounting the Amp under the rear deck instead?
