no significant complaints. Terrific car. back seat a little tight; center armrest interferes w/ cupholder/vice versa. Instrument cluster dimmed out & was replaced under warr. (common).

Compared to my '94 Mercedes C280 this car is a dream of reliability. Great handling, great ride, comfortable, so-so fuel economy.

I like it a lot.

99.5 1.8TQMS Avant, four weeks, 3100 miles, very happy. Roof, sport package, allWX, Bose sound. Minor problems --- jammed cigarette lighter (those who HAVEN'T had that problem WILL unless they park the lighter element in the glovebox!) and a bad display on the climate control panel --- but pleased so far. No plans to chip. Maybe debadge. Possibly a TV blade antenna on the roof --- probably not.

I'd have payed $2K more if it:
1) had a firmer brake pedal feel and larger rotors (mostly for track reasons).
2) it's steering was a bit less boosted and less numb off center.
3) the sports seats were a bit tighter on my body.
4) the sport suspension was maybe 10-15% stiffer.
5) 20 more lb-ft of torque across the entire rev range and a 7K rpm redline would be the icing on the cake.

...though it hasn't been perfect.

Problems fixed under warranty, in order of occurence: Jammed CD changer (this was the biggest hassle in that Audi had them back-ordered); Starter switch (car refused to crank one morning, sat for 10 minutes and then started just fine; Dealer couldn't duplicate the problem but replaced the switch anyway); Cruise control switch (started getting balky during a long road trip a couple of months ago.)

Also replaced wiper blades and burned-out turn signal bulb at no charge.

Looking at my list, it occurs to me that some others on this board would be screaming bloody murder and on the phone to AoA. I guess I'm weird; I expected little quirks when I bought a German car (my VWs were packed with them.) The other qualities of my Avant go a long way in mitigating the minor irritations. You can't let the little things ruin the overall goodness of the car.

However, if these things keep misfiring after the warranty is up... EEK!

After one week, a broken 3-pin connector on the wiper relay caused the windshield wipers to stop working and the headlight washers to come on and stay on until they sprayed the reservoir dry. Aside from that, no problems. I adore this car; see my review on A4.org from about a week ago.
