I was planning to use the infamous Blaupunkt adapter with the Concert headunit. I've read how some people's post-1999 A4s had a one-piece wiring harness that made it ineffective as a simple, plug-and-play procedure (earlier A4s had a 3-piece harness that slid apart, making it easy to use the Blaupunkt part). After seeing pictures from another fellow TT owner that HAD the 3-piece harness, I thought I might be in luck. I was wrong! What you see above (top black--left of red) is what I found--THE 1-PIECE HARNESS!

What I'm hoping to do is use the factory harness with the Blaupunkt female pin connectors/RCAs. Of course, to do this I'll need to get the existing pins out of the Audi harness (which send preamp signal to the rear speakers), remove the pins from the Blaupunkt adapter, and insert them into the Audi harness.

Does anyone know how to effectively remove the pins from these wiring harnesses?

Thanks,

...do whatever it takes to borrow his OEM pin-removal tool. They have a large tool kit w/tons of different pins, jumpers, and remove/install tools. I borrowed the appropriate Audi tool, and even then slightly bitched up the Molex connector. I can't imagine doing it with finish nails or other such jury rig; just not enough hands or patience.

Rotsa ruck.

I've never taken these exact connectors apart, but I've taken a LOT of connectors apart. The very best tool I've found so far is actually those "T" pins of which cubicle dwellers are very fond. You can buy them at your local craft or possibly sewing store. The T portion is very easy to hang on to and the sharp point works well for disengaging the catches on the pins.

Get some real close-in shots of the connector, especially the back and any holes in the top or bottom (for access to the catches) and maybe I can give you more specific advice. FWIW, several of the other Audi connectors I've messed with actually separate into halves for pin removal - making things much easier once you figure out how to get the connector apart.

Good luck!

I tried to use sewing needles to push them down on the top and bottom, but I think the needles were too thick.

Would the tool you described fit in there?

Thanks!

Notice the pins inside.

They are pretty helpful.

I used an old Blaupunkt harness I had lying around
to convert from Delta to Concert.

Although I just:
cut, strip, solder, heat shrink.

That's some detail work u r doing.
Good luck.

Ours was taken out and now I have no clue what to do. I'm trying to hook up an aftermarket Sony CD player and can't make heads or tails of the wiring and can't find an adaptor plug that works.

I purchased the standard VW plug adaptor and couldn't figure out how this whole thing works cause our Audi Concert deck is now living with Audi.............. permanently. And I never had the chance to look at the schematic. The adaptor plug didn't make any sense because it seemed to be missing all kinds of connections. Now that I see the schematic and understand the system a little better, I think the VW adaptor will work. The missing connections are for the rear speakers on the adaptor plug. But that's ok because I can just run new speaker wire to the rear deck and bypass the factory amps.

On your picture of the schematic on the top plug, I assume the + is power and the - is ground but the other symbols I have no clue about. Here's some guesses...... that sun shape = illumination... the modified "Y" could be the antenna........ S, K, GA I have no fringin' clue. Any ideas ?????

We have a 1999.5 A4 Quattro that I'm going to install a Sony deck into. This has help a lot. Thanks again !!
