Is it as easy as it looks? Any different from installing one in a 98? The procedure is in the FAQ section. Be gentle... I'm technically challenged. Thanks!

View Full Version : CD (Panasonic 601) Changer installation on 99.5... JR 09-29-1999, 08:24 AM Is it as easy as it looks? Any different from installing one in a 98? The procedure is in the FAQ section. Be gentle... I'm technically challenged. Thanks! AJ 09-29-1999, 09:46 AM It's really not that hard and you save more that a hundrend dollars. All you have to do in unscrew a couple of panels, pull the trunk lining back and connect the wires. I just did this a month ago and the hardest thing to was looking for the wire because it was hiding behind the bracket. You're also supposed to screw the changer into the bracket but I didn't do that because it's hard to reach the screw holes. But it still runs fine without the screws. John Boyd 09-29-1999, 05:05 PM Where do you get a Panasonic 601? I just checked both the Panasonic and Crutchfield websites and neither mention this model. There's an 801 and a 610, but no 601. I need to know as my best friend just bought (leased) a 99.5 A4 today and it didn't have a CD player. I told him not to worry--we could put one in, figuring it would be as easy as my 98 Jetta was. And what sort of adapter do you need, if any? The dealer said they'd put on in for $500, but he said 'no' since he thought I knew what I was doing. AJ 09-30-1999, 07:50 AM Go to www.clair.com. They are selling the panasonic 6 cd changer. No adapter needed. |
