View Full Version : Poll: 5.25" front speakers that fit 99.5+A4's. Anyone? RichD 06-12-2000, 05:32 PM M.S.G. 06-13-2000, 09:33 AM Used the MBQ adapters with BA 5.5 pro series speakers. Tight fit though. RichD 06-13-2000, 09:51 AM Gorobei 06-13-2000, 11:23 AM
Email me HERE!: sirgorobei@seatown.com Thanks. LCP 06-13-2000, 12:48 PM I had Canton 4" in my '96 A4 and am considering them again, but only if I can move up to 5.25". I like the a/d/s very much too, but they are pricey, and would only get them in a 5.25" as well. For that matter, has anyone else here ever had the Canton top-of-the line separates? I like them a lot over the more popular MB Quart and BA -- both of those are just too bright for me. I like the Diamond's more, but still prefer the sound of a/d/s or Canton. Steve Crumley sent me an e-mail a while back. He used the adaptor, but he needed to grind down parts of it, so that the back of the speaker cleared the power window mechanism. Also, a little bit of metal around the speaker opening on the door will need to be trimmed. My installer had a wonderful afternoon last Saturday. He spent about 80% of his time on the doors, the rest of the install was a cinch. It's not plug-n-play, but it will work. Pelican Pete 06-13-2000, 09:44 PM But you have to pay for them !! I paid $59 for mine. Because I didn't want to wait for Soundhabit. Now I am waiting for my speakers from Soundhabit instead. -- Peter JoeyM 06-14-2000, 06:53 AM i ordered from soundhabit a few days ago...i got an email that said it might be awhile...they said they had been waiting 3 weeks, and were going to call mbquart today to get on them...but who knows...
JoeyM '99.5 1.8T Click to go to Registry: Memphis 06-14-2000, 11:59 AM I had to file down the edge of the speaker so it would fit into the door. They do sound great though! broadbandjim 06-14-2000, 12:19 PM ..going from stock Y2K fronts to the Boston Acoustics? Improved? Thanks. M.S.G. 06-15-2000, 08:58 AM I used to actually turn the stock system down because of the harshness of the tweeters. Now I've got beautiful highs and you can't tell where the speakers are located.
