Having installed 4 channel caliber amp, and sub to standard (non bose) concert unit in my A3 I have noticed that the head unit seems to give out more bass at low volumes and less as things get higher. (FYI - 2 channels running stock speakers and bridged for sub) I have heard that if you reprogram the head unit - i.e. into Bose mode, you get a flat response throughout the volume range. Anyone know if this is the case and if so can my dealer do it for me??

I've heard about this before. Someone WITH a gutted Bose system (running the Concert receiver on a TT w/aftermarket amps & speakers) that I emailed with several months ago experienced the same bass boost, so I don't think that is your answer.

But what about the GALA function? I know it is supposed to be speed-dependent, but my guess is that the function may be causing the bass boost. Try disabling it and get back to me, please.
