Dan,

How you liking the Kenwood stuff? I have the exact same head unit and changer setup.... As far as where I mounted my changer, I am either going to mount it underneath the rear shelf... or in the cubbie hole opposite the stock changer. The mounting brackets that came with it don't reach the metal surface of the rear shelf, so if you decide to mount it there, you'll have to first make a spacer or something out of MDF or whatever wood you like. For now, I stuck the changer in the cubbie hole and it is just sitting there loose (wedged in by a few rags) until I decide where it's permanent home will be.

As far as all the functions on the head unit... yea, you ain't kiddin'.... lots of eq and crossover adjustments to make. It'll take awhile to figure it all out.... but hopefully, once I get the entire system installed, it'll be like Ron Popeil's (Ronco) rotisserie machine...., you just "set it.. and forget it"

NOW, if I can only figure out this AM reception problem... see my post below.. did you have this problem?

Siberian,

The headunit is great and has a real nice "cool" factor. I like it a lot, a really nice HQ piece. The brightness of the screen is excellent and the red is a dead on match. I have it sounding pretty good but the bass from the subwoofer is really boomy. I can't seem to balance it out... any ideas?
Dan

about the bass, I haven't really played with mine enough yet, but I have a question.. do you have a separate amp or amp channel running off the non-faded sub pre-outs of the head unit? If not, then that means you are probably running the subs off the rear channel. That said, the rear channel can't cut off high frequencies... only low ones. So what you are probably experiencing is high frequencies trying to come thru your subs... thus the boominess. If you run the sub amp off the non-faded sub pre-out on the kenwood, then you can cut off the high frequencies to the sub.. that should eliminate the boominess. Do this by going into the audio setup menu and select the NF (non faded) low pass cut-off. Try different settings until you find one that works).

If that don't do it.. then I don't know.. what kind of subs you got?

I put the tool box into the little basket in that "cubbie hold" and mount the changer where the tool box was. If you dont think you'll need the tool box, just leave it at home. You have free roadside assistance anywaz.

with my current Eclipse, i just mount it at the stock changer location.

I cut the frequency off at 80hz first and it was ultra boomy (by boomy I mean the sub would be either ON or OFF and when it was ON it would be boomy). It doesn't sound like the sub and the front speakers are working together, it sounds like the sub is just comming on during really low notes. So, I let the headunit run all sound to the sub now and it helped a little. I can't get at my crossovers because of the way my amp rack is setup (this will be fixed when I get my pods redone).

The sub I'm running is a single Infinity Perfect 12 (aluminum cone) running off a JBL BP.600 300w x 1 @ 4 ohms. So, the equipment definatley isn't the problem. I guess the gain and crossover on the amp are just funked up.
Dan
