hey guys.. I finally fired up my new KDC-X915 and everything works great... except I get zero A.M. reception. FM reception is fine, but A.M.... nuthin'!
Did you have similar problems? If so, how did ya fix it?
I noticed on the back of the stock head unit there was a separate brown connector that plugged into a blade terminal that was apparently grounded to the chassis of the radio. Does this connector have anything to do with the antenna?

If you didn't install the headunit, check to make sure that the transformer is tucked far behind the headunit deep into the dash. It says in the instructions that if it is too close to the headunit it will screw up the reception.
I think that brown connector was the remote power signal wire for the stock rear speakers. My car was already hacked up from my old headunit, but I did see the blade sitting on an unused section of the wiring.
Otherwise I'm stumped...

I did talk to the dealer earlier and he said maybe it was a bad radio. So I'm gonna take it in tomorrow and have them look at it. They're gonna swap it with another one and see if that helps. If other guys are not having problems, then I guess it MUST be the radio and not the car.

...problem. Not sure how the A4 setup is, but on my 90Q there were seperate wires for AM and FM, I believe. When I modified the wiring for a standard anteanna plug, I think I messed soemthing up. So, I never had AM either. I never bothered trying to fix it because I never listen to AM. Anyway, if the A4 requires that you modify the anteanna lines and convert them to a standard plug, make sure you got the wiring right. I wouldn't think that the AM tuner would be out on your head unit, but you never know. Good luck!<p>Charles
