I would like to place my SmartTire sensor remote unit on the upward sloping back end of the overhead console (the sloping area just behind the main cabin light). Where is the nearest ignition powered power connection that I can use to give power to the remote unit? And if there is one there, how can I access it? Any and all help is appreciated. A secondary location I was thinking about is right where the aluminum trim is on the front dash in between the sterring wheel and the drivers side door. If I can easily (DIY) access wiring here too, please let me know. Thanks!
Raj

... by the sunroof dial (see my FAQ concerning the red dome light). Problem is that the power is not 12v but more like 3v. There is constant 12v, though. So you would need a relay switched by the 3-4v to switch the 12v which you would then use.
That's all I can offer from here... good luck.
Stan

Can the red wire provide the correct and appropriate amount of power to the SmartTire remote unit? Would all other procedures remain the same except that I'm connecting a remote unit rather than an LED light ? I'm a little iffy on the whole thing still. Any more details will help though. Thanks!
Raj

The red wire, at least according to my FAQ, leads only 3-4v and is very, very sensitive to fluctuations. So it's not suitable for a couple of reasons.
What I recommended was to use the red 3-4v wire as control wire for a small relay. That relay will then switch +12v (which can also be found at the sunroof plug) which can handle many more Amps and is a solid 12v - however permanent on, which is why you can't use it "straight".
If you have any more Q, please email me as I pretty much never read this forum.
Stan
