Any where I should check out in the Chicago area? And I'm in the market for MD receivers. Which ones would you recommend? Thanks for the advice!

View Full Version : Good place to get stereo installed in Chicago? And recommended MD Receivers? mikdivad 03-22-2000, 07:17 PM Any where I should check out in the Chicago area? Thanks for the advice! siberian 03-23-2000, 12:07 PM ABT is an appliance store, but their mobil audio department is really good. The installers there really know their stuff. They do serious installs...collectively these guys are responsible for MANY IASCA trophies. Whether you want a simple install or a full blown custom system... these guys will work with you. I've shopped all over Chicagoland and checked out a ton of dealers and shops.. I felt most comfortable with these guys.... not to mention they carry most of the stuff I'm looking for....Kenwood eXcelon head units, Xtant amps, and Kicker subs. They also carry MB Quart but I'm not sure I'm going to use Quarts. Ask for Gregg Schwartz... he's the shop manager. I'm doing my system myself, but I'm buying my components from them and they are going to give me guidance and help me through the install. And if I chicken out, they'll take over and do it FOR me. Very cool guys there. JA6SON 03-23-2000, 09:25 PM It all depends on where you want to take the system. If you just want the convenience and kick-assness of MD then any entry model should do. Just choose your favorite of the reputable brands. If you want to upgrade the sound quality of the system, then look for the features that you are going to use. If you're adding multiple amps, but don't want to use an external crossover then check out a unit with a crossover built in (such as the Kenwood with System E+). If you are going full blown, then your only goal should be sound quality. Check the shops around your area, and see which model appeals to you. You are the only one that has to live with the decision you make. Enjoy MD, it's the best format for the car. Jason |
