View Full Version : Symphony upgrade with BA speakers questions...

I would like to use my old set of BA Pro 4.2s to replace OEM speakers in the front (not just because I'm cheap, I prefer the old soft domes to the new Neos, they seem mellower). I would like to add BA Pro 6.5LF speakers as well for midbass, but where should they go? Do I do a full construct in the front kick panel(expensive, and I'm cheap, remember) and leave the back door speakers full-range, or should I just replace the back door speakers with them? I'll probably cross them at 300hz with a shallow 12db/oct. slope since the 4.2s peter out at 85hz. I'm worried about soundfield distortion if they sit behind me, but I'm not sure.
Three other considerations,
1. I don't care how it sounds in the back seat
2. I will build a 10" sub into the changer compartment in the trunk for LF, say sub-50hz.
3. Eventually, I will run everything with a 5 channel amp (when I add the sub), but for the moment I will use my Nak. 30Wx30W to run the front 4.2s.
