I just got my 2000 S4 last week and already I am looking to expand it. =} I got stuck with the Symphany System and couldn't get bose. Either way, I don't have the 6 disc, so I was thinking of doing an MP3 player instead. I have read only a slight bit, but noticed that some of the MP3 players can be connected with the CDChanger interface, but considering the plug is quite propriatory, this doesn't seem like an option. The other possibility would be with an FM Modulation. This would allow me to tune my radio to a particular Frequency and listen to the MP3 players signal from the trunk. Last option would be swap out the entire Symphany system and start from scratch. I really don't want to go this avenue, unless there is a really good face plate that will make the HUGE space match the rest of the wood grain. I am thinking about mounting the remote and and LCD in the Center Hand Rest. I saw that it has the RJ-45 Phone link and was wondering were those go? Can I use them in anyway, rewireing of course. =}

Any imput, thoughts, comments, flames, are welcome. Has anyone done this?

If anyone tells you where to find a kit for the 2000 crappy Symphony, please let me know also. You can email me at joebunn@mindspring.com. Thanks, Joe

About the MP3 player...if you can wait a little bit longer, I think many major car audio companies are working on it. I saw some prototype in this year's CES at Las Vegas.

Actually, I am an engineer from Alpine...and we are definitely working on it too...so stay tune....

I saw that Rockford is going to have a CDChanger type box that plays MP3's.

Now I just hope they don't screw it up and put a parrallel port on the back. At this point it should be USB.

If you could, tell your boys at Alpine to include a USB port. =}

It's $600 plus shipping and handling in U.S. through gray market imports. I would buy one, but I still want to listen to the radio.

http://www.kenwoodcorp.com/j/products/car_audio/index.html</a
