Hi

I want to add an 4 channel amp to a non bose A3 with concert head unit.

It has 4 front speakers - amplified by head unit, and two rear amplified somwhere else.

Any ideas where this is, a separate unit or at the speaker itself.

The rears are self powered, I have heard. I would think it would be similar to how multimedia computer speakers are powered.

the fronts are run by the head unit. Line out runs from the head unit to the drivers-side, rear speaker. There is a small circuit board attached to the speaker which powers the rear speakers. If you look at both rear speakers, you'll be able to tell if yours is set up the same. It's quite obvious.
