Other thoughts? DavidG 09-29-1999, 09:59 AM I am very happy with the way the chip has transformed the car that my only regret is sometimes having to actually stop driving and get out of the car to do other things. I have not had any pinging (my original suspect of pinging turned out to be a misdiagnosis on my part and a normal turbo sound), although I exclusively use 93 octane fuel. I've been in for scheduled maintenance twice now and none of the mechanics have made any comments to me at all after their test drives. I think it would be very hard to detect the presence of the chip (since there's no physical evidence). You have to go by the feel of the car alone, which would probably be hard to document. Also, the chip doesn't have much impact below 3K RPM - the turbo is just not boosting much yet. A mechanic on a casual drive might not notice a thing. -> David alan t. 09-29-1999, 10:40 AM IronMike 09-29-1999, 02:43 PM Dmitry 09-29-1999, 06:47 PM ...power corrupts ! Seriously, my car has 23K on it. I chipped it over a year ago. I even tried it with 89 octane fuel (Mobil) and did not hear a single ping at full boost. I do use 93 octane most of the time though. |
