Is the Bose Stereo worth the $600.00 extra over the Standard one. That seems like a lot of money for 50 more watts? I can buy a lot of stuff after market for that much.

An additional 2 speakers, (one in each rear door) that are not present in the "stock" stereo setup. Also you get (what I would consider) very muddy sounding bass... I much prefer the sound of the stock system.

"80 watt 8-speaker sound system" - Standard for non-Avant

"150 watt Bose premium 8-speaker sound system" - Option for non-Avant

I plan to upgrade with all aftermarket equipment, so the only reason I would have considered opting for the Bose was to get the speaker cut outs and grilles for the rear door, but now even the standard setup has that so I happy being standard through the winter until I do an overhaul.

If I remember, Audi moves the 7th and 8th speaker in the stock stereo from the rear deck to the doors on the Bose upgrade. So both systems have 8 speakers, but only the Bose has them in the rear doors.

Stock: 4 in front doors, 4 in rear deck.
Bose: 4 in front doors, 2 in rear doors, 2 in rear deck. Audi separates the rears.

I could be wrong. Anyone else have any more details on this?

According to people on the S4 board. Alot better then the standard stereo and definetely better then the pre Y2k bose package in the A4's. I assume the new A4 have the same stereo as the S4.

I think Steve S. has heard both versions of the new stereo. Comments Steve?
