Yes I do realize that I have gas pressurized shocks, but this is beginning to concern me. I'm almost starting to think that my tire pressure is too high (40psi). Anyone else experiencing sounds in that family or funny noises for their suspension?
I got no Sports Suspension, but having the same chirping sound from rear suspension.
Bothering me a lot, especially when parked on a slope.
Brought to a dealer who said lubrication would help. Not true. It was good for only a few days.

Gee whiz,
This same phonomena occured on my 98.5 2.8 w/ spt susp. & the dealer lubed the bushings...went away only briefly and now is back. Not as noisy but is now only occasional. I noticed that when temps are warm the noise is more prevalent...
Audi did issue TSB on '97 units regarding control arm replacements. So far I don't know if any issued for this problem. My advice is to make sure you have it documented with service and if it is a problem in future you made your case.
Good luck

Noticed it a couple of months ago. Sounds like change in my pocket when I hit cracks in the pavements, small bumps, that kind of thing. Comes from the front suspension, and can be heard with the windows down on both sides.
Last time I brought my car in for service I had them look at it. They said they didn't see anything wrong and couldn't hear it. So, I asked for someone to come with me. A service tech drove the car and after a while ( a long while ) he started to hear it too. He said that the oil pan cover bolts can come loose and cause the oil pan cover to rattle. I said OK, he jacked it up and tightend the bolts. No luck, noise was there by the end of the day.
I am a little concerned, but I do have documentation that says they couldn't find anything but the oil pan cover bolts. A friend wondered if it might be the brake pads hitting the rotor.....kinda like brake squeal for a half a second at a time. I doubt it, but maybe. I'm going to have them check again next time I bring it in. Until then, just turn the radio up real loud so you can't hear it :-)
