View Full Version : Any current 2.0t owners feel decked they are not getting the new ea888 engine? Boggy 05-29-2008, 03:45 AM so much more twisting goodness down low..wondering if the S3s are getting the same thing. Hesaputz 05-29-2008, 04:07 AM several new owners have posted pics of the underhood changes. But not a peep from AOA about uprating. The new motor is listed as 211 Hp, 258 ft/lbs in the B8A4 - will it be the same in the A3? Have they uprated it over there, Boggy? I haven't yet heard anything about the new car being a jet. And as soon as A3(2.0T) owners start reaching 60-70K miles; it will be a hot topic here as well. Marcus88 05-29-2008, 10:05 AM I have a 06 A3 and was wondering why the timing belt was such a hot topic for the MkI TT, I just hit 45k and put about 25k on a year so 60k really isn't that far away. Brungold 05-29-2008, 11:52 AM i'm one of the new 2.0Ts waiting for APR to program their chip for my ecu. Ecu has been scanned and logs have been sent to APR. Waiting is hard! Brungold 05-29-2008, 11:55 AM Hesaputz 05-29-2008, 12:08 PM It's not that unusual for a manufacturer to change specs or parts midyear without posting new specs till they print up new lit or revise the website. Brungold 05-29-2008, 12:16 PM It was a couple of years ago, and I only drove it for about 10 min with a passenger from Audi so I didnt really get a good enough feel of it to compare. Not sure I'd be able to feel the difference of +7 hp/tq though. Anyone in socal want to let me drive their car, for research purposes, of course. Hesaputz 05-29-2008, 12:53 PM Gettysburg 05-29-2008, 12:56 PM with the 1.8T engine, conventional wisdom was to replace the timing belt, belt tensioner, and water pump every 60,000mi. If the belt failed, it could cause expensive damage to the engine (ie. valves hitting pistons) gk1 05-29-2008, 01:11 PM Brungold 05-29-2008, 01:24 PM ... back then I wasnt even considering buying an A3, so I didnt pay much attention to the drive. I did, however, leave the event pleasantly surprised with the A3. And now I have one! I'll post up when I get a chance to feel how an older 2.0T 6MT drives.
