View Full Version : How many owners here have had their final covered service (45k miles)? Timmay 03-10-2008, 09:05 AM I'm creeping up to that mark now so was just curious. acie 03-10-2008, 09:41 AM krazyboi 03-10-2008, 09:59 AM Timmay 03-10-2008, 10:10 AM Soner-O 03-10-2008, 11:20 AM acie 03-10-2008, 06:07 PM water pump, serpentine belt, new tensioners, etc. have been about $1400 from several dealers. That's on top of the $400 for the rest of the 75k service - oil/filter, air filter, cabin air filter, and plugs. azoceanblue 03-10-2008, 08:12 PM azoceanblue 03-10-2008, 08:15 PM samlclem28 03-10-2008, 08:19 PM I spoke to a local (non-dealership) mechanic at a service shop specilizing in German vehicles and he said the timing belt on our A3's is supposed to be good for 105,000 miles. I'd call the dealership or Audi of America directly. They freeze up suddenly without warning, causing the belt to jump or break. Lots of buzz about this on previous gen Audi engines - especially the 1.8t. Depending on model and year, the owner's manual would sometimes give a 90K change interval - which was fine for the belt, but not for the bearings in the system. Since then, most folks advocate a change interval of 60K miles to be on the safe side. That's for the older gen engines though. rovision 03-11-2008, 06:47 AM TB replacement is common in the A4/B6 world, around 70K, and most indy shops (at least in the LA area) are doing it for around $600-$700, parts included. munkyboi 03-11-2008, 07:24 AM various companies had produced a timing belt kit for the 1.8T engines that costs a few hundred dollars, i suppose there will be kit available for the 2.0T as more cars with the said engine are approaching the 60-70k miles mark... RedRocket27 03-11-2008, 09:41 AM Myself and a friend that has a German service shop did the timing on a TT I had. ECS had that kit but I cannot find one for the A3. Jon C 04-08-2008, 05:48 PM |
