A little off topic but, we drove an A3 on the autocross course so,there. Anyone who gets the opportunity to try it, do it. Just a rundown of activities;

First was a hard breaking excersize with steering input in an A4 3.2. Kinda boring. Next was a high speed lane change in an A6 4.2. That was fun, blasted up to about 65 and did a very quick left-right lane change. It's amazing how tail-happy you can get those huge cars. Everyone killed the inside right cone(except me). Then an autocross course in an A3 3.2, a Q7 4.2 and an A8L 4.2. Very fun also. I asked my instructor if I rolled the Q7 if I had to buy it and his reply was, Go ahead and try, we couldn't do it. Lots of body roll but it handled very well for a big SUV.The A8L was a pig and A3 3.2 did very well in the fast twisties. Now I have to take mine to an autocross event. Then we did the follow around the track, following the instructor in an RS4.. We all had radios in the car and the instructor was watching us the whole time telling us what to do.We were in S5's for those who drove stick and TT DSG's for those who couldn't. S5 is a very cool car(forget the back seat if you have legs). This car runs and handles very well! An I was amazed at the speed the let us go. We use the roval configuration and on the second of 3 laps we were doing 105 in the banking an just brushed 145 before hitting the breaking zone. Not too bad for the low, low price of nothing. No one got the ride in the R8 due to a blown tranny yesterday in the one that they really push hard but, still beautiful just to look at in person. They also had several other classes(every hour starting a new one) so no time for R8 rides. That's what they told us anyway.

Anyway, if you get a chance, try the Audi Driving Experience, you'll have a 2 hr blast!

I have to say, it's much more posh than Quattro Challenge - I did the one at Nazarath Speedway (PA) in 2001. Back then, you do the exercises in your own car, no AC'ed tents or espresso served. The instructor, Morgan, was at that event as well.

Anyways, the S5 good fun... though didn't get a chance to open it up being the instructor/pace car. The S5 I had had bad syncro or something as it was grinding in 3rd. Amazing how some folks can abuse these wonderful/new cars.

Surprising, I still remeber the track from when I drove it 2 yrs ago. Gf had a fun time too... maybe I'll sign her up for a PBOC driver school to get her some real track time in her A3.
