I got the bottom of the dash opened up, but couldn't find the module to unplug to silence the door/light/belt/etc. chime. Anyone out there find it?

Several people have had trouble with the chimes failing, and have had to have the instrument panel replaced at a cost of $1200.

The chime/alarm failed three times on my previous A4--a '97 2.8--and a complete instrument- cluster replacement was the fix each time. By the way, all the repairs were done under warranty, but I was told that a nonwarranty repair, using a rebuilt cluster (as they did with my actual repairs), would have cost about $750.

Do you know the breakdown between labor and parts?
