View Full Version : Another gas mileage Q: is it reasonable to expect 25mpg from the 3.2 on highway? I had a poll on this before, but i would like to get some more responses from other folks BOS/NYCAudi 03-28-2007, 07:42 AM but i have a bit of a heavy foot. MPGs obviously depend how you drive, but i think you could probably get 25 if you keep it at the speed limit. kaizersose 03-28-2007, 07:47 AM just completed a road trip and averaged well over that. hell, i got ~25mpg at 90mph through the nevada desert. drop the speed a bit and your mileage will increase accordingly. I was having much worse numbers (18-20), until I adjusted the tire pressures, and passed the 5000 mile threshold. Paul@LP 03-28-2007, 08:23 PM How are you guys/gals calculating the mileage ? I find the car's CPU is grossly inaccurate. I drive to a second home every weekend (265 miles each way). Point to point with a fill-up I can get 22.5 to 23.5 mpg with an average speed of +75 mph over moderate low hills, and average loading. The CPU says it's closer to 25 mpg. I could see the CPU showing +28mpg with flat terrain but at 90 mph sounds crazy. Tires are at 38 psi; I find that a lower pressure of 32 psi will cut the mileage by 2.5 mpg. Weather can strongly affect the mileage; I find it drops as you get close to 10 degrees. Paul@LP 03-28-2007, 08:32 PM I once had to drive the 3.2 at 55 mph on the highway for over a hundred miles. The mileage pushed to 27 MPG. Jump on the car around town at the mpg drops to 21. kaizersose 03-29-2007, 07:42 AM yam 03-30-2007, 09:18 AM johnz 05-28-2007, 03:55 PM . |
