i'm looking to get one so i can stick my two pugs back there on beach days.

the "official" audi partition net / divider runs a whopping $380, but fits perfectly in the car. i can't see spending that kinda cash on a cage, but curious to know if any of you have.

also, let me know if any of you are using a universal gate, like from petsmart or something.

thx

no barrier here, i just drop the back seat. My dog is fairly large, a german shepherd, who just lies there when in the car. I would be worried with small dogs that unless retrained, they would go flying around the cabin with sudden stops

They may recommend a particular model, but they make both a tube and mesh style that's pretty adjustable.

(who ALWAYS calls "shotgun"!) we were worried about having her just sitting in the front seat, even though she stays pretty much where she belongs, even a small collision could have sent her flying. We purchased a small 'dog harness'. It straps on the dog like a leash harness would with a ring on the back. Then a strap connects the ring to a strap that slips in the seat belt clasp. It's adjusted to about 10" so she has room to move a little but if we were ever hit or rear ended at the worst she'd maybe get a little bruise from the harness but not go flying into the dash. Now I can take those hairpin turns at 60mph with her too! :)

It's nice to see other mini doxie owners! We have 2 regular minis and one that is a mini doxie/maybe chiuaua(sp) mix. he looks like a doxie but has long legs. the best personalities.

currently my two pugs sit in the front passenger seat, with my wife and baby in the back seat. but i would love to get the dogs in the back hatch area.

i also have the harnesses that keep them in place - maybe i can run them through the little anchors in the back hatch area instead of buying a gate....
