Yes, tire spin, everyone hates it. I used to have a b5 a4 and yea. that's non-existant in those cars to my experience. But i know there's things you can do to cause the FWD car to not spin the tires. I know a good set of tires will help. but is there anything out there that will also reduce the tire spin when the throttle is. well jammed i guess is the right word. like. in a race. thanks for any help.

Like you said, getting better tires makes a big difference but they'll still spin. Learning throttle modulation is a must...it comes with time. LSD? Pricey but I imagine it would help too.

Physics is just against you, sorry to say, but a FWD car will be slower off the line and more prone to wheelspin than an AWD or RWD car.

Better tires and trained throttle inputs are about all you can do...well, you could drive backwards. :o)

When you say wheel spin in a race it would also help if you defined the situation better. A tight corner in a real race, or just stoplight dragging?

Lots of things you can do, but they'll only be incremental improvements.

Here's a small sample. The effectiveness of each depends on many factors, not the least of which is whether you're talking about in a straight line from a stop, or accelerating out of a corner.

- Lower the car -- reduces weight transfer to the rear.
- Corner balance -- maximizes traction on both front tires.
- Softer rebound on front shocks.
- Stickier tires.
- Tires with softer sidewalls (especially if we're talking straight-line acceleration).
- Reduce weight.

And no matter what, the most effective:
- Driver training. "Jamming" the throttle is generally not the fast way, even in a race.

And that last one is not only the most effective, but probably also the least expensive.

1)Decrease tire pressure!!
-Oh yeah, that will wear out your tires like no tomottow!! LOL

2)Decrease Torque!!
-Well, nobody wants to decrease power!! LOL

3)AWD!!! (now that's a Great idea!!)

Just kidding man, but actually you have to understand that that's what FWD does. The problem with increasing HP and Tq through modifications on the 2.0T A3 is that it only leads to more tire spin. Now off a roll or on the expressway, that's a different story!!

http://www.corelineracing.com</a
