I've had the full resonated AWE system on since last November. It's great for track days, but I'm growing tired of the loudness for everyday driving. Especially the drone on the highway under modest throttle going up slight grades.

Would the Milteck muffler be a good retrofit? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'll be keeping the downpipe and metal cat. Would also like to keep most of the performance.

If you want to buy my AWE resonater, send me an email.

Land Rover Defender 90 and got a little tube called a 'venturi' that went between mid and rear pipe sections that lowered the volume considerably under the conditions you describe.

May be worth a call to the manufacturer to see what they suggest - or to a local performance shop to see if they can retrofit something.

Although I just realized your last line about wanting to keep performance levels... it wouldn't surprise me if the increased backpressure from a venturi would affect performance - albeit ever so slight. As you can imagine, the venturi didn't really affect the blinding acceleration of my Defender.
