Had a run-in with a state trooper this afternoon while driving on the NY State thruway. He apparently wasn't too fond of my beloved tints on the front driver and passenger windows...he gave me a ticket, and I wasn't even speeding...booo! I reluctantly booked the appointment to have the front windows scraped for court. The best part about the story is that as I passed the officer, I was being overtaken by a row of traffic moving along at ~85mph! Must have been my lucky day! :(

get a letter from your doctor that with your "eye condition" you are required to run tints.

because of the summers out here but I have been closely tailed on 3 different occasions and could tell by the actions of the officer(s)that I was having my plates ran I guess to see if they could find a reason to pull me over.
I'm guessing just because of the way my car looks.

but than again I've never heard of anyone willing to argue that point with a cop

Not on the A3 tho . . . . on my B5. The glass itself was dirt cheap ($35 OEM) and it took me an hour to do it. As soon as I got the ticket written off, I swapped the tinted windows back.

Seems like everybody is getting a ticket the past 30 days. I was also on the thruway and the Taconic this week: saw unmarked Durangos, a Camaro Interceptor (going about 120mph) + 3-5 Vicky Crowns on each run (where I usually see 1 per run).
NYPD doling out a bunch of summons on the streets as well everywhere.
Be careful in New York State!

the kind officer informed me that "the only reason he pulled me over was because my tints were too dark"...apparently the ny state troopers have really begun to enforce the often ignored tint law that is in effect in ny currently. there was just a story about it in the papers. kinda sucks though...lol.
