I was just told by AOA that sport seats absolutely DO NOT have
a side airbag because the stitching is too tight. This directly
contradicts my dealer, who assured me that the sport seats
DO have side airbags. I'm looking at either a 99.5 or 00.
Does anyone have a definitive answer on this?

that the 4 air bags are standard. They are showing this off as part of their big safety stuff. No where does it say they do not come w/ the sport seats. If they didn't, I'd think it would be stated somewhere.

They'd get into lawsuits if they say 4 airbags are standard and then don't tell you that you're only getting two because you paid extra for some option.

Could someone w/ Sport seats (post 98, is it?) feel along the side of their seat to see if there's a hard section where the airbag would deploy from.
