Many have noted the problem to their dealer, with virtually no success. If I remember correctly, one guy complained to his dealer so much the dealer put a fat set of A8 brakes on his A4- anyone remember who that was? Solutions: many have found that new brake pads help- a set of Mintex eliminated brake noise for me (also solves the pesky brake dust problem). Temporary Witch Craft Solutions: A few people have suggested that really heavy braking will "clean" the surface of the pad- the new surface being less prone to vibrate and squeel. I tried this and it worked, though it is just as likely to be a coincidence (I didn't have a constant squeel problem). Hope this helps, Peter G 96 2.8 12v QM Ray Calvo 09-28-1999, 08:22 AM DaveL 09-28-1999, 09:02 AM parts, then the squealing is normal and just an annoyance. My OEM pads were silent, Raybestos squealed intermittently, and new Mintex have been silent so far. All of my family's 8 Audi's over the years squealled at one point or another. To some it's a fair trade off for great braking perofrmance, for others it's not. Der Hai 09-28-1999, 03:34 PM I just replaced mine with Mintex red box...I too had the dealer look at the annoying squeaking, usually happened at very low speed. No more insane dusting and no more squeaking... If you don't want to change your pads, you can use brake pad silencer, you apply this to the back of the pad, but to do this you must remove the pad, if you go this route, you're better off replacing the pads altogheter....
