This isn't the typical sport grill installation question (I know how to remove the stock grill). My question is how the hell do I get the rubber to stay around the grill long enough to install it? I purchased the grill from LLtek and it came with a small amount of adhesive inside the rubber. It's not strong enough. I've tried Krazy Clue. . . no luck and Silicone (too messy). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Keith

The rubber stuff I got with my A!Avantgarde grille had metal embedded in the rubber stuff...it was actually more like plastic stuff. It needed no adhesive what-so-ever to stay on...I just pushed it on the metal of the hood...and gradually worked it on. I think the LLtek one is using some other type of rubber stuff. Your explanation is making this sound hard.....my installation was a cake walk.
I have taken mine off a few times for various reasons....the last being to get the grille powdercoated.

Hmm... unless Lltek's grill is different.... shouldn't that trip be form fitting? Mine has metal pieces to allow me to shape in and it stays - no glue required.
Don't know how much this helped, if any.. but good luck.

All that came in the pack was the grille and ~2 feet of rubber. I assumed that the rubber goes around the grill. The rubber was folded over and had a rubber glue type substance in the middle. I assumed that this would be satisfactory to allow that rubber to stick to the grille. . . but it's not. There are no metal pieces in the rubber what-so-ever.
I also thought that there was only one company that made the grilles for everyone (LLtek, A!Avantgarde etc). I'm not really understanding why I having so much difficulty. I think I'll give LLtek a call later.
Thanks,
Keith

the rubber strip does not attach to the grille.
It attaches to the grille opening on the car.
Maybe that's your issue?
Dave
The plastic strip doesn't go on the grill itself. Basically it goes around the opening on the hood. This is to prevent the grill from rattling agaist the hood opening.
So, what you want to do is first... put the grill down on the floor. Open the hood up and remove the OEM grill. Have that plastic strip in your hands. After you removed the OEM grill, you will notice the sharp edge of the grill opening. Put that plastic strip that's in your hands over/covering the sharp edge. Once that's on the hood, pick up the grill and fit it on.
Good luck.
