I have a 'blemish' on my hood that my service person said may need a respray on the hood.
Ive seen resprays before and none of them look very good nor do they use the 100 (or 6 or whatever) point process to paint the hood like the factory would. Im contemplating leaving the blemish so as not to make the hood look even worse with a bad respray.

How good should it be?
Anyone have opinions on this?

If you go to MAACO, they will probably clean the area, and shoot it with new paint. A good shop will take the area down to primer, re-primer, and do all the correct steps to blend it and make it next to impossible to tell there was ever a repair done. When you go out and get estimates, ask what will be done, look at the other cars in the shop, and the condition of the work areas. If you see a clean shop, with high end cars being worked on (you can always ask to see what repairs they have just done on another car) you probably will be ok.

What year is your car?

I have the same problem. Most dealer will warrenty their work. Nothing beats a factory paint job. I have had many cars repainted and I find that the more you pay the longer it will last. I would ask them to take the hood off and paint it away from the car.

Repainting factory blemishes bites!
