From 99 to 99.5, Audi changed the front grille. Specifically, they had five horizontal lines and changed to four.
If you look at a 99 (or any pre 99.5) you will see that of these 5 ribs, 3 of them pass through the Audi rings, and they line up with those outside of the rings.
If you look at a 99.5, there are now only 4 ribs, yet within the Audi rings, there are still 3, and those 3 don't line up with any of the 4 that are outside of the rings. Once you notice this, it will probably bother you (or at least make you say Huh?) The only reason I would assume they left the 3 in the middle is either because if they put in the 2 that line up, then it would look to barren inside the rings or they did it so they did not have to change the hood release mechanism that disguises itself as part of those ribs.
Please tell me that I'm not the only one to notice this.
And is it still like this on the '00?
It looks like they forgot to change the ribs within the rings.
