I went to the local kayak outfitter and tested out the 400XT footpack. They didn't have the 2168 kit spec'ed by Thule for fitting but we put the feet on the A3 and it seems like it won't affect OpenSky ops in any way.

Will know for sure in a couple of weeks when it arrives.

Need the utility now more than ever with gas prices heading north - anything to keep my 9mpg chevy K10 parked is money well spent!

just make sure you get the RB47 bars. thule specs a 43" bar in their fit guide, but it's a typo.

i learned that the hard way when i ordered a complete kit. they sent the 43" bars that thule spec'd and i spent 4 hours trying to get it to fit with no luck.

luckily, they're sending out the correct bars at no charge to me.

check out this thread with lots of pictures...<ul><li><a href="http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=2385801">roof racks for the a3</a></li></ul>

Clears no problem. Not even close.

The only part that has any issues is one of the brackets for the fairing. And, thats only because I bent it at some point in the past, and had to bend it back toget it on the new car.

One thing I found was that the rack is very quiet with a fairing. However, one night, I was driving around without the fairing on it, and it was annoying enough that I just took the whole rack off when I got home at 2 am.
I probably would not have bought a fairing if I didn't already have one, and I'm pretty glad I have it now.
