Went to the body shop today to get an estimate on a little fender bender from the weekend on my week old 2.8. It doesn't look like much but @!^%$^%$^%$ the bumper was scratched, headlight lense scratched badly, quarter panel and hood pushed in about 5 mm. Total bill over $3,000! Still waiting on the estimate for the explorer door that I dented at only 5kph!

I only had one accident on my record from almost 6 years ago which was due to be cleaned in December. With my renewal next year at least the rates won't go up but now I won't have a clean insurance record until 2005!

Still love the car though... :) I'll have to give it up for 5 days while it gets fixed. Fortunately I will be out of the country for about a week so I can get it done then and come back to a hopefully pristine car.

went into our favorite restaraunt on 18th street in nyc.. opened the passenger door for my girl, came back over to my side and i almost fainted. some %$&@*&$(@ taxi decided to hit my poor baby in the drivers side front quarter (fender). i have an appointment with GEICO on saturday so that they can cut me a check..

$3000! holy jesus! on my baby theyre going to have to replace 1 sport mirror, drivers side fender, and maybe even one clear corner lamp. =(

are you going to somewhere your audi dealer recommends? i have a feeling that if i go to the place my dealership recommends, i'll be paying an arm and a leg for the work..

looks like i finally have the opportunity to color-match all my lower body pieces!

good luck to you..

I'm going the body shop that is owned by my dealer. It's an insurance job so I don't want to be messing around with people who may or may not know the Audi intimately.

If you saw the damage you wouldn't think it was much but the headlight pushed in the quarter panel a few mm and pushed the hood up a tiny bit. The headlight assembly is $500 for the unit I was told.

BTW That's all CDN$ so it's probaly only about $100 USD :).
