I just picked up an A3

Is there an Ipod interface.
Can you get service manuals.
Can you get the OBD-2 descriptors for messing with stuff.
How can you program the alarm to be passive.
Can you setup blue tooth anyway other than buying the Audio option?

thanks,

Is there an Ipod interface.

There are several available. The most popular seem to be the Denison Icelink and the PIE adapters. These have models that just plug into the CD changer cable that's pre-wired into the glovebox.

Can you get service manuals.

See www.bentlypublishers.com. The A3 CD just came out.

Can you get the OBD-2 descriptors for messing with stuff.

See en.openobd.org. You will also need access to a CAN-BUS enabled VAG-COM.

How can you program the alarm to be passive.

See en.openobd.org.

Can you setup blue tooth anyway other than buying the Audio option.

For OEM integration, see www.navplus.us.
There are also 3rd-party solutions available (Motorola).

Icelink or PIE.

Bentley makes service data available on CD/DVD - Just out.

Get a Ross-Tech cable and software. It's almost like a factory interface.

How do you mean passive?

Have not seen anybody add Bluetooth yet, but you should ask the Audio and Electronics forum.

My insurance gives a discount only for autos with passive alarms. To be considered passive the alarm must automatically activate (no user clicking) after leaving the vehicle.

For the Ipod I thought Audi was going to put in the interface standard. I've only had the car a few days, but I didn't see any connectors.

thanks, for the answers.

Unless you have some form of advance key like they offer on the A6 and A8.
