I was at the bookstore today and saw a couple of small writeups in both of these magazines. BW was interesting because it has an article on what is to come and what is currently happening with vehicle design and who's leading the way, etc. I recommend taking a look at it.

They noted Audi leading the way with their TFSI engines, improving both performance and mileage.

still trying to recover from sticker shock. They paid $27k and change for a no frills A3 2.0 T

As usual they pointed out how expensive the car gets when adding options that will bring it over $30k and so on.

I know that I've been getting good mileage and I drive fairly aggressive. It's power too, not only fuel efficiency. You can't tell me an A4 gets up and goes as well as an A3, particularly with DSG.

Perfectly acceptable given the weight and power output of the car IMHO. Sure wish it had a proper overdrive gear for the highway though:)

But since then, it's gotten better. It's a bit better than the 1.8T now. Yeah, it'd be nice if it was a lot better, but hey, this car is much quicker than my B6 Avant ever was. A fair trade off, IMO.

Remember that there's always the Prius..Lol.

Hey you can get those nifty little decals that will allow use of the carpool lane and everything ;-)

You don't think 6th is geared correctly?

Then you could say you drive the same car as Julia Roberts and Leonardo Dicaprio..haha.

into 6th? At least that's what I remember. You see, I never use auto mode so I'm having a hard time remembering details.

I get about 24-25 around town and the variables seem to be road and wx conditions and traffic more than how hard I press the loud pedal.

I get 29-30 at 75 on the highway, but agree that a taller 6th would be nice. I'm not too lazy to downshift into 5th when necessary [g].

I go in Tuesday for my 5k with one of the shortest new car "lists" ever: My alarm LED on the dash doesn't blink (I know this will elicit huge outpourings of sympathy here [g]), and the rear washer jets are badly misaligned (cue more sympathy).

Not bad at all.

Did you get the MPG info from the trip computer?
If yes, will it display instantaneous, as well as average (resettable) MPG?

Yes, the instantaneous setting and resettable setting can be utilized.. and are.

where the boost is just starting to kick in earnestly (around 2200rpms).

I do an incredible amount of stop and start driving in town, not just stop and go, so the car sees a lot of start duty cycles.

As for calculating the mileage, I use the odometer, and then work from the amount of fuel used when I fill the tank.
