View Full Version : SD Cards (maximum storage?)

I just got a delivery date for my new car, so I was going to load up some SD cards with music. I have seen some conflicting info on how large a card you can use with the NAV+. I think the manual says 256MB, which seems low, but I have also heard some people use 1GB cards.
Anyone have any luck using full 1, 2 or even (too expensive) 4 GB cards?

2 gigs holds plenty of 160k mp3 files. When I'm ready for new music, I reformat one of them and it takes no time.

I've heard that it's not the size of the card that is limited, it's the number of files. I don't know what that number limit is. Anyone?

it's absolutely amazing. 20GB and uses Atrac+ with compression of only 64kbps that sounds absolutely incredible. Better than iPod IMHO.

My 4GB (FAT32 high speed) works fine but I wasn't able to put more than 460 files on a card. Better, the RNS-E didn't read more than 460 files stored in several folders. My recommendation would be to get a 1GB or 2GB card unless you are ripping with 320k or have fewer but longer songs you are listening to.

I've got 2x 1gb sd cards too. I tell you, this is probably one of the best features of the audio system. Sweet!!!

Just to clarify - 460 per card? So if I have two cards the limit would be 920? Or can the unit only handle 460 files from the SD drives at a time?
Sorry to ask so many questions - just don't want to buy more memory than I have to!
Thanks for the help.

http://www.nesfield.co.uk/synctunes/

It can create .m3u playlists and convert aac files to mp3 on the fly. You will still need to convert purchased iTunes some other way.

Thanks for the link. That's exactly what I am looking for. Now, if I could only find a good id3 tag cleaning app for Mac....

I'm using 1GB cards and the default iTunes directories, with artist dir, then album sub-dirs. Works fine and the names show up on the driver info display.

BUT, where the heck is the pause button?

Maybe with a future software update, Europe just got it with the 0330 software.
