Aparently on this forum and several others there has been a Greedpseed (one of Neuspeeds biggest distributors) and another distributor for Optican who supplies Neuspeed with their chip code. Going around and pretending to be regular people interested in chip tuning ETC.
Well today a user Freespeed who is a dealer for Optican software (who supplies neuspeed with code since they can't crack a can of tuna let alone a chip) has gone around to several websites making posts attacking several of the companies with ME9 (the ECMs in our cars) code saying they are doing it wrong and in a way that will be harmful to your car. They are also attacking the methods these companies use with absolutely no basis for these attacks. Heck they were pointed to patents pertaining to these methods and still claimed the companies were skirting around the issues.
Now I am not a dealer or hell even a supporter of any of the companies they are going around and attacking but its just plain wrong what these people are doing.
Speed13 who posts here (red A3 with the reiger kit), AKA misano on fourtitude/vortex turns out to be an employee of Greedspeed and has been found to be making posts FROM Neuspeeds office (via IP checks on other sites) all while claiming to have no affiliation with them
The user Freespeed on here and other forums is the one making the posts attacking others methods of tuning and was just confronted and admitted to being an Optican distributor.
He has for hte last few months been spamming several websites with Optican and Neuspeed propoganda(although claims no ties to Neuspeed he plugs them an awful lot) on numerous forums breaking all of those forums commercial posting rules.
Chose who you wish to deal with.. Currently OCT and APR are doing flash programming in teh US.. Several otehrs are doing the BDM (back door method which requires opening the ECM) and none of them are going around attacking others. APR is the only company that made a post simply informing people to look into which method your chosen tuner is using. REVO will have stuff out shortly that will be OBDII port flashed to the ECM. There will be numerous companies to offer you all sorts of tuning options ..whether it be peak power or adjustability.. smoothness or raw power. Make up your mind for yourself. But be aware that there are companies intentionally going around attacking others simply to promote their product..
THATS LAME!!!!!

There is no dubt in my mind that there are a lot of people that work for tuning company here. Not all the information here is not biest. But this is a form for all. I have no problem with people working for a company or for audi it self, giving an option or some info. Mater of fact I appreciate it. Its good information. Some things you couldn get in a form with only enthusiast drivers. Ive seen some of his postings for about 2 months, and never felt he was pushing a product or bashing a competitor. Well thats just my thoughts. Now I will sit here quite and wait for my A3 finally get here. Grrr. I want my car!!! Sorry off the subject.

Sorry I got your kit wrong, I'm not obsessed with the progress of your car.
Overall your attitude in helping people has been pretty poor and I have not once seen you actually tell someone where you got your stuf.. just that you had special access and no one else can get it yet.
And you were called out over on fourtitude about where you work and YOU DID Deny it so apparently you were trying to hide something..
Your IP that you post from has been traced to match both neuspeed and greedspeed along with several other people who are known to work for one of the two...

Its about the fact that users who work for these companies have been going around ATTACKING outright other chip companies making damaging claims about how using other products but optican and neuspeed will damage your car.

your post, those underneath go away. You can still find the posts below if you know the url, but the actual starter post will be visible to mods only.
Tuners or people employed by tuners are not usually mods because of potential conflicts of interest.

"Tuners or people employed by tuners are not usually mods because of potential conflicts of interest."
Funny that you of all people would say that having worked for a tuner and been a moderator....

Freespeed's post put forth notion of '[insert ecu tuner] incorrect chip tuning method will damage the car'.. pretty much an attempt to induce fear into using said tuners product. The problem is, his/her factual basis for the statement was on false information. I found Freespeed's 08/03/2005 post (their 3rd ever) again.. and it is the start of a thread.. allowing him/her to hide the post after leaving it up for a while.
Ocean, you were probably referring to Speed13.. and I have no opinion on that. I just wanted to clarify that you weren't referring to Freespeed with your post.

I'd post the link, but it seems silly for me to do that since it is word for word the same. He/She just ran around from site to site (within the course of less than an hour) and pasted the same message. Then Brett followed around and post the same reply (2hours later) to each post. People watching the whole spectacle often pointed out Freespeed's incorrect statements on their own, but it was still best that Brett cleared things up. The slander put forth is a big source of mis-information floating on the net.. and readers should double check such extreme notions before spreading it around.
Depending on Freespeed's net worth (and company affiliation), a slander lawsuit could be of interest for the lawyers looking for some practice and some money. The catch is that Freespeed is a (self claimed) dealer in Europe.

Here's what the staff had to say about the defamation, slander, and mis-information:
"Freespeed, your IP address goes back to the Netherlands and http://www.obdtuning.no/ (Optican) is in the Netherlands.
While you may think you are trying to promote a product here by taking shots at other tuners, it isn't helping the community. Further more you aren't an advertiser in these forums and much as we'd love to allow everyone under the sun to make commercial posts, it would turn this place into more of a circus than it already is.
Chris and others in this thread need to step back and chill out a bit. Obviously you don't know everything there is to know about Neuspeed and what they may or may not be doing right now - only Neuspeed can post on that subject. Much as I can appreciate that you guys want to state your opinions on the subject, we would all appreciate it if it was all completely based on facts not conjecture or what was heard or what you *think* - we don't need more misinformation in this forum.
I'm locking this and suggest that Freespeed and others think twice before they decide to take shots or try and speculate as to what other companies are offering/developing right now." - jamie@vwvortex.com

be a conflict of interest, nor have I for several years.
When I do make a post specifically about a product that I have prior commercial knowledge, then I make sure to point out my prior connection. However, in the course of moderation, I do not allow personal preferences regarding various tuners or their products to sway what I must do if people overstep their boundries.
Most everyone who is a mod, has had some past professional or personal dealings with tuners or product companies. We keep that seperate from our duties as mods.

People almost start crying when she leaves the board due to her excellent advice, experience, and disclaimers. I only say this after having seen a couple years of her posts. The odd person tries to take her down on a disagreement, or catch a mistake in her posts.. but she's still one of the most highly revered posters in AW.

And you are entitled to it. But the pedastal that April is being put on is being polished by way to many people who were never shown the difference between a diamond and glass.
Her information is very insiteful and helpful but there are other times where she is more off topic and no better then any of the other members but she is excused becuase of who she is. That is not fair to the forums or other members. In other forums on here people post information on VW products or spy photos of new Audis and they get locked. Yet daily she starts topics on Alfas, MB, VW and other brands.
The simple fact that she commented about the ability of people to moderate when they work for companies when she herself has done just that in the past but feels she can excuse herself is only further proof of her clouded judgement on matters. I"ve see moderators on other forums who OWN shops that show better discretion then she does.

to being right than just being right. If you're creative, you can communicate the same ideas without confrontation. It might be something to think about when you keep butting heads with people across the various forums you visit.
I know that's certainly a question I ask myself sooner or later when I get into a disagreement with someone. Hopfully sooner;-) Nobody is perfect, but that shouldn't stop us from trying to improve our communications skills.
As for your posts, I try not to respond directly to them, since you seem to take them out of context and in the most negative fashion and I don't want to provoke you. It gets tedious to argue when there are more productive things we could both be doing.
If you think I start OT threads that have nothing to do with the A3 or it's competition, then please send me a private mail to remind me. Keep in mind that a tie-in to another brand or model in the message is not OT unless the whole message is OT. Nor so we usually mark messages OT unless it is the start of a thread. If things meander OT in the course of a thread, we usually leave it be. The goal is not over-moderate and allow people to use their own judgement as to whether they should click on a message, based on title and poster.
