View Full Version : What I think would be cool...

I have the "Mode" button on the steering wheel, which doesn't do anything. (I believe it's used with the Nav+?)

I wonder if you could program the button to allow you to put the tranny in auto mode after you use the paddles. In other words, I know that with the shifter in "D", you can use the paddles to shift up or down. This puts the tranny in manual mode.

If you want to put it back to auto mode, you can push the shifter to the right (to the truly manual mode position) and then back to "D". Or, if you don't use the paddles after some time, it goes to auto mode automatically.

Now, I think it would be cool if I could press a button on the wheel to put it in auto mode right after using the paddles. This would be useful if the shifter is in "S" mode, since you can't really do that maneuver to put it in auto mode like if it was in "D".

Just a thought.

I have it too and I also have the NAV+ as you know. I haven't figured it out yet but haven't spent too much time investigating it. If anyone knows, please speak up now. :-)

Btw, I've got some commentary on the drive logic of this tranny but I'll save that for another thread and not hijack this one..lol

created something like what vplaza is talking about..hehe

Now that I think about it, what is it used for if it has no function on A3s and A4s??

It would be great if I could switch MODES between:

AM
FM
XM Radio
CD
MP3 cards
CD changer

using the MODE button. Also, the phone button on the wheel should function as a MUTE button so that when I use my phone in the car, I can quickly silence the stereo. I can't believe they put dead buttons on the wheel in this day and age of configurable modules.

And does anybody with Nav+ know how to PAUSE a CD or MP3 while playing without going through several menus?

On the A6 and A8 you can use mode to cyle through the driver information screens. From nav, to audio list tho the regular driver info display. Also you can select the audio source from the wheel on the A6 and A8, by scrolling to the top of the station or track list you can select cd/am/fm/sat.

To use the phone via bluetooh voice activation the arrow button on the right side will be active. During a call you can use the left thumbwheel to select hang up or when recieving a call you can use it to select answer or ignore. But for the Mode button it has no function for bluetooth.

this couldn't be accomplished with the A3 and A4.

that that and the voice recog buttons are for future cars but went ahead and put them on these a3's. maybe ask in the a4/a6 forum see if they're in their cars and work?
